Uckfield man left with life-threatening head injuries after being struck by car

A 51-year-old lorry driver has been taken to hospital with life-threatening head injuries after leaving his cab at the Lampool roundabout and being struck by a car this morning (November, 5). The lorry driver, from Uckfield, left his cab after coming to an abrupt halt with a van at a roundabout in Maresfield, near Uckfield, at around 6.15am. An air ambulance assisted paramedics at the scene, while police said all roads leading into the roundabout were closed to traffic until 11am. Officers would like to hear from anyone who saw what happened or noticed a blue Mercedes-Benz Antos lorry, a grey Volkswagen Crafter van or a grey Citroen Picasso car being driven shortly before the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting Operation Drybrook.
