UEFA Women's Euro 2022 Roadshow at Hove Lawns This Saturday

England legend Fara Williams will be heading to the city this Saturday (June 25), when the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 Roadshow arrives at Hove Lawns.

With 172 appearances for her country, Williams is England's most capped player, having represented England at two UEFA Women’s EURO championships, three FIFA World Cups and the London 2012 Olympics.

The free roadshow is visiting Brighton as part of its national tour of host cities, featuring Fare and other players as well as grassroot coaches from the Sussex FA and freestylers

“I’m excited to be able to experience UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 as a fan this summer, as the crowds will be unlike anything European football has seen before” said Fara.

“Some of the biggest names in the game will be playing right here in England and it’s going to be really special. Accessibility is definitely a big part of generating that atmosphere, so it’s great to see events like the Roadshow’s helping to introduce more people to the game.”

Supported by Brighton & Hove City Council, the free Roadshow offers visitors a chance to get involved in this summer’s unmissable tournament.

Fans can take pictures with the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 trophy, win tickets to games and enjoy entertainment from DJs and other acts.

UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 Tournament Director, Chris Bryant added:

“We’re delighted to bring the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 roadshow to Brighton & Hove. With the city hosting three fixtures, the event is a great way to get more people involved in the tournament. We’ve got an exciting day ahead which will help to introduce more people to the women’s game in a fun environment that the whole family can enjoy together.”

Councillor Martin Osborne, co-chair of the Tourism, Equalities, Communities and Culture Committee, said:

“The roadshow is going to be a fantastic event for the community to come together and celebrate a huge moment in football.

“There is a real excitement here ahead of the tournament, so it’s great that this event will not only provide residents with an opportunity to get involved but encourage people to come into Brighton & Hove and enjoy the entertainment.”

Paul Saunders, Brighton & Hove Host City Legacy Lead, added:

“Following months of planning and preparation it is great to see the residents of Brighton & Hove now being given the opportunity to really engage with the tournament with the touring Roadshow and Trophy coming to the city, and the opening of the Goal Power Exhibition at the Brighton Museum & Art Gallery.”

Anyone wanting to get involved in grassroots football and learn more about other routes to get into the sport, will have an opportunity to find out more at the Roadshow, with visitors able to try a range of industry-related roles such as matchday presenting and interviewing in a special TV studio.

UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 Roadshow will be open from 11am – 5pm on 25 June at Hove Lawns, near the Peace Statue. Match tickets for fixtures including games at Brighton & Hove Community Stadium, will also be available to buy on the day.

Brighton & Hove will host three tournament fixtures, including a quarter final tie.

Tickets are on sale now for fans to experience a history making tournament that aims to unite football and communities and amplify the growth of the women’s game
