Eastbourne's large scale vaccination centre has moved!

As of Tuesday June 1st, Eastbourne's major vaccination drive has moved from The Welcome Building to the former Mothercare shop at Hampden Retail Park, Lottbridge Drove, Eastbourne.

Teams from Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust said they had been busy transforming the new site to be ready to deliver vaccinations.

People who have appointments booked for the Welcome Building on or after June 1st should have been contacted by text message and email and informed about the change of location for their vaccination.

All other details, such as the time and date, remain the same — NHS staff said it's just the location that is changing.

Free parking is available at the new site for people attending their appointments, and there are good public transport links.

More than one million people across Sussex have now received their first anti-coronavirus vaccination.

The NHS said the delivery made progress thanks to "the commitment and dedication of all of those involved in the Sussex Vaccination Programme", and due to the activities taking place in the large scale vaccination centre at The Welcome Building in Eastbourne.

Now, as the country moves out of lockdown restrictions and buildings, conference centres and sporting sites are able to be used again, the NHS says there is a need to relocate the vaccination centre to another location.

Siobhan Melia, Chief Executive of Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust, said:

"I'm so proud of the part SCFT has played in supporting the vaccination programme across Sussex.

"Our teams at Eastbourne have worked tirelessly since we opened in February and we are proud of the service we have been able to offer communities across Eastbourne.

"We are looking forward to welcoming even more people to our new site in the town."
