Events spaces and venues across Brighton will be illuminated in red tomorrow evening (Monday) to raise awareness of the critical condition of the events industry.
The Light It In Red idea is to call for politicians and the government to help out the industry, that the campaign group claim, may not survive the next 100 days.
Visit Brighton and the City Council are supporting the national campaign to raise awareness of the critical condition of the live events and entertainment industry.
The campaign is designed to encourage a conversation about the how the events industry in the UK, which includes approximately half a million jobs, can be saved from waves of insolvency brought on by the coronavirus crisis.
The action is aimed at the general public to draw attention to the dramatic situation of the event.
The campaign hopes for a bailout for the events sector until the markets return, including grants being made available to businesses in the events supply chain, the furlough scheme being extended until the industry is back at work, and an extension of the scheme for self-employed people - of which many people who work in the sector are - tailored towards the industry.
If you see a building lit in red on July 6th, you can tweet a photo with the hashtag '#LightItInRed' to join the conversation.
If you don't know already, Monday 6 July at 9pm #lightitinred. it's our #BrightonNightofLight backed by @BrightonHoveCC. Our venues and event spaces in Brighton are in real danger of never coming back. Protect our city and its cultural heritage #stayinspired pic.twitter.com/RrY8jrO1GZ
