Victim named amid Whitehawk murder probe

Police have named a man who died after sustaining a knife wound in Brighton at the weekend. Officers said 26-year-old Muhammed Lamin Jassey from Brighton was attacked in Whitehawk Road, just south of the junction with Findon Road, at around 2.30pm on Sunday (April, 5). Mr Jassey was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, where he died later that day. Four men were arrested on suspicion of murder, aged 21, 25, 26 and 41. Officers said they were all released on bail until May 4. Two women, aged 21 and 38, were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. The 21-year old was released under investigation, and the 38-year-old will face no further police action. DI Alex Geldart said: "The victim's family have been kept informed of the progress of the police investigation and are being supported by our family liaison officers. "This is a fast-developing investigation and we would urge anyone with information to come forward." Anyone with information is asked to contact 101, quoting Operation Heathland.
