West Sussex man jailed after following profiles of young girls in ballet outfits online

A West Sussex man previously convicted of child sex offences has now been jailed for 18 months, after breaching a court order by following the profiles of over 30 young girls online. Police said unemployed Mark Grindon, 36, of Swallowfield Close, near Horsham, was convicted of going online to look at the sites of the young girls, and of possessing the items, despite a court order directing him not to do so. Grindon was previously given a suspended sentence in 2016 after being convicted of making indecent images of children. At the time, he was given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), severely restricting his contact with children and computers and requiring him to clear any such contact with supervising police checks. However, police checks carried out earlier this year showed Grindon had been looking at the accounts of more than 30 girls from across the country on Instagram. Police said they were aged between 11 and 15, and the images were of children mainly in ballet and leotard outfits. When searching his home, officers also found camera phones, a GoPro camera and a computer tablet concealed in a hidden compartment behind a false shelf in his bathroom, alongside sex toys and girl's leotards, and a camcorder. Police said his possession of all of these breached the order. PC Louise Giles said: "Grindon failed to abide by restrictions placed on him by the Crown Court in order to protect children. "Enforcement action like this sends a clear public message that we continue to robustly monitor and enforce the requirements placed upon sex offenders in order to protect the community."
