A woman's been attacked while walking on a footpath in Haywards Heath.

Police say the victim, in her early 20s, received a punch to her face, and had her hair pulled by a person who approached her from behind.

She'd been making her way between Chapman Way and Colwell Road, and was close to the St. Francis Social Club.

There's so far no description of the attacker, who struck at 12:50pm on Saturday June 19.

The suspect is said to have run away through the bushes nearby.

PC Sam Chapman said:

"We have had no reports recently of similar incidents or anything else that could be linked to this.

"We would like to hear from anyone who saw what happened or who saw anything else suspicious in that area on Saturday morning.

"You can contact us either online or by calling 101, quoting serial 654 of 19/06."
