
A woman who was found dead at her home in Bexhill on Saturday (February 6) has been identified as Carol Smith.
Police said the 75-year-old's provisional cause of death was an injury consistent with gunshot wounds.
Ambulance paramedics and Police discovered her body at a property in Watermill Lane, at around 1.45am.
An inquest will be formally opened on Thursday (February 11), and then adjourned for further enquiries.
A 78-year-old man who was also in the house, and who police say was known to her, was arrested and taken to hospital with a serious injury.
He remains in a stable condition.

“This is being treated as a tragic isolated incident and we are not looking for anyone else in connection to it.
"Carol's family have released a photo of her and our thoughts are with them at this incredibly difficult time and we would ask the public to respect their privacy."
