Woman robbed and attacked with branch in Brighton park

Police are investigating after a woman was left injured during a robbery in Brighton where a man told her he had coronavirus, just before attacking her. Officers said the 54-year-old woman was walking her dog in Stanmer Park around 6.30pm on Easter Sunday (April, 12) when she became aware of the man walking behind her. According to the force her, the man then told the victim he had Covid-19, before demanding she hand over her mobile phone. He then reportedly picked up a branch and swung it at the victim, causing a deep cut to her left arm and a cut to the bridge of her nose. The man was described as black, around 5'9" tall, of a medium build with short hair, and an afro style. He was wearing baggy black jeans, a baggy black t-shirt and a red face mask.
