A woman's been injured in what's understood by police to have been a homophobic attack late at night in Worthing town centre.

The victim, 28, was subjected to violence and insults by a group of youths in Chapel Road, leaving her with a wound to her face.

Chapel Road, Worthing

Police have opened an investigation to trace the culprits, after the attack at around 10.15pm on Monday night (May 17).

The woman's mother, writing on social media after her daughter's visit to a pub in the same street, said:

"My daughter went out for a cigarette when the attack occurred.

"Someone must know who these youths were as there were so many of them!"
