Worthing Dance School Picks Up Four Medals At Dance World Cup

A dance school based in Worthing has picked up two silver and two bronze medals at the Dance World Cup held in Portugal.

Handpicked from a pool of thousands, the school proudly represented England in the prestigious competition, often likened to the Olympics of dance, and solidified their place among the world's finest dancers.

Genesis Performing Arts, located on Penfold Road, assembled a team of dancers aged 10 to 18, who joined forces with Team England to participate in the largest all-genre dance competition on the planet.

A staggering 7,500 children and young adults from 65 countries took part in the event.

One of the standout achievements came from the remarkable Lucas Dart, an 11-year-old prodigy, who secured the bronze medal in the Children Solo Jazz (Boys) category, astonishing judges with a remarkable score of 92.2%.

In addition to this exceptional feat, the Genesis team's Junior Small Group Show Dance, Junior Large Group Jazz, and Show Dances garnered medals, with every group performance placing within the top ten. These outstanding achievements contributed significantly to Team England's success in ultimately claiming the prestigious Dance World Cup title.

Victoria Hampson, principal of Genesis Performing Arts, expressed overwhelming pride in her team's extraordinary accomplishments, saying:

"Being selected to represent our country on the international stage is an immense honour. Witnessing our dancers competing alongside the world's most exceptional talent and renowned schools was truly awe-inspiring."

"This triumph wouldn't have been possible without the invaluable support of our sponsors, including Worthing Lions and Harbour Park, to whom we extend our profound gratitude. Their financial assistance played an instrumental role in making this dream a reality.

"To witness our young performers being chosen for this incredible opportunity is an extraordinary honour, one they have diligently worked towards. Over the past few months, these remarkable children have dedicated themselves to tireless practice, honing their skills in preparation for the jazz and show dances."

Notably, Genesis Performing Arts proudly sponsors a young Ukrainian refugee, who was among the talented individuals representing England as an integral part of the Genesis team.

In celebration of their achievements, Genesis Performing Arts is inviting the public to see their show, Shine, at the Pavilion Theatre in Worthing on Thursday, July 27. The event will feature their medal-winning performances alongside dances from their successful dance festival year.
