Worthing Foodbank Announces New Ambassador To Support Christmas Campaign

The Worthing Food Foundation has announced Love Island star and Worthing resident Amy Hart as the newest Ambassador for the charity.

Amy first volunteered with the foodbank in 2020, and has maintained close links with it ever since.

The volunteer-led community foodbank supporting over 1,000 people a month, recently launched its ‘Give a Fiver for Food’, campaign asking people to donate £5 or more to support Worthing families this Christmas.

The appeal aims to raise £10,000 to provide essential food for Worthing families this Christmas, as well as Christmas treats for over 250 children. A £5 donation will provide food for one person for a day, a £10 donation will provide food for a small family, and a £15 donation will provide food for a larger family.

Amy explained her commitment to the work of the charity:

“From the moment I first visited the Worthing Food Foundation I knew I was coming into a family of people who were so committed to helping others in their time of need. Volunteering throughout lockdown gave me an insight into the challenges our food neighbours face and opened my eyes to situations I hadn’t even thought of.

"As an ambassador I’m so proud to shout to anyone who will listen about the amazing work the charity does. Thank you to each and every one of you who have helped or are planning to donate this Christmas and beyond!”

Matthew Potter, Chair of the Worthing Food Foundation said:

“Amy’s unwavering dedication to our mission of alleviating food poverty in Worthing has made her an ideal champion for our cause. With her support, we are even more inspired to work tirelessly to ensure that no one in our community goes hungry.

"Last year we distributed 120,000 meals to local people in need, one for every Worthing resident. As the cost-of-living crisis continues to put people’s finances under strain, we expect more families to need our help this winter.”

Amy is lending her support to this year’s Christmas Appeal for the charity. All donations will go directly to help Worthing residents in need, and can be made via Just Giving at: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/wffxmas
