Worthing Hospital: Nurses Stressed Over Lack Of Parking

A member of staff at Worthing Hospital has sent an impassioned plea to Andrew Griffith, MP over the plight of nurses unable to park at their place of work.

Lynn Howland, who works at the hospital, says nurses pay £100 per month to park in the staff car park but, after dropping the kids at school, there are no spaces left.

Nurses have complained that it's impossible to park unless they arrive at work at 7.30am, which is impossible for those who are working mums.

Many are being forced to queue until the night staff have vacated their spaces, during which they eat breakfast in their cars and risk being late for their shift.

In her letter to Andrew Griffith Ms Howland explained:

"NHS staff as you know have such a traumatic time coping with the devastation of Covid, losing their lives in the cause, ending up with many having post traumatic stress disorder amongst many other sacrifices.
Do we really need to feel more stress about trying to park at our place of work?
Clapping for us does nothing!
We need free parking in and around the hospital.
Please I implore you, this would help all of us that work for the NHS.
It’s such a small thing in comparison, surely you must agree?"

She told More Radio:

"This I feel is a small thing to achieve but would be massive in properly showing appreciation for the tireless care our fantastic hospital continues to provide."

Andrew Griffith MP has been approached for comment.
