Worthing Samaritans Hold 'Brew Monday' Event To Combat New Year Loneliness

Worthing Samaritans will hold an event next Monday, officially known as Blue Monday, 'the most depressing day of the year'.

They say Brew Monday is an opportunity for people in the community to reach out to each other and have a cup of tea and a chat, especially those who are lonely and may be struggling.

Sophie Badman, a listening volunteer with the organisation said:

"With the last couple of years of lockdowns and Covid, I think it's safe to say it's had an impact on everyone's mental health so we are holding an event to bring people together, to pop along to Heene Community Centre and have a drink and a conversation.

"A few of our volunteers will be there in the morning for people to come and say 'hi' too. "

The event will be held at Heene Community Centre, 122 Heene Rd, Worthing BN11 4PL from  9:30am-12pm.

"Everyone is welcome and hopefully it will reduce loneliness in the community and promote that it's ok to reach out for support."
